Halse Lodge History

Halse Lodge

A place that captures the essence of Australia’s coastal heritage.

Originally built in the 1880s, every corner tells a story inherently tied to the land. Recently renovated and carefully re-designed, this iconic heritage listed two-storey Guest House has been revived in leisurely comfort. Connect with others in a casual, light-filled dorm, or find solace in a private suite—perfect for pairs or small families. Rest, relax, and capture core moments amidst vibrant interiors that celebrate the spirit of Australiana.

There’s a spot to drink cold beer or natural wine under a canopy of greenery, and share a meal with friends or family—new and old. The communal spaces invite you to stay a little longer, savouring the company and slowly sipping away in the sun.

Halse Lodge embodies the true energy of Noosa. Yoga on the deck, table tennis tournaments and long games of pool, evenings soundtracked by classic vinyls and surfboards strewn in the sand. We’re only a short stroll to Hastings Street, Noosa Junction and Noosa River.

Come and stay—and experience an atmosphere that’s distinctly, and unmistakably, Australian.

"I had a fantastic experience at Halse Lodge in Noosa! The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing, with a beautiful location close to the beach and local attractions. A special shoutout to Paris at reception, who went above and beyond to make my stay exceptional. She was incredibly helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring I had everything I needed. Her kindness truly made a difference in my trip. Highly recommend Halse Lodge for a memorable stay in Noosa!" - Annette Mitchell

"This is the nicest and cleanest hostel I stayed at during my month-long trip to Australia. The accommodation was absolutely stunning and pristine! I slept so well here. The location is extremely central — you can walk to all the main attractions, and there’s a bus stop at the bottom of the hill for anything you can't reach on foot. 10/10 would highly recommend!" - Robin Bridgers

"Had a fantastic four-night stay at Halse Lodge! The newly refurbished room was great — spacious, with top-quality linen, very comfortable beds, and Saya toiletries as a lovely touch. The bar/restaurant was fantastic and very affordable, attracting a mix of locals and visitors of all ages (certainly not just backpackers!). It closed by 9:30 pm, so our room (right next to the beer garden) was noisy until then — but it was happy noise, so no problem at all! After that, it was very quiet. Best of all, the location was amazing — right in the middle of Noosa, so we could walk everywhere! Thanks — we will be back!" - Kirsty Ingram

"We came here for dinner, and all I can say is — what an amazing spot! The food was very reasonably priced (you must try the fish tacos!), the ambience felt like a beachside hotel in the tropics, and the staff were incredibly helpful and kind. We highly recommend this place for small families or anyone looking for a truly authentic Noosa experience. It’s also dog-friendly!" - Andre Tse

"Thank you, Marco, and the whole team for your hospitality — you were so fun and helpful! I had the best time at Halse Lodge. The accommodation is perfectly equipped, has everything you need, and boasts an unbeatable location. Special shoutout to everyone working there and to the best happy hour in Noosa! 10 out of 10 — would highly recommend." - Alina Straub

"Such a gorgeous space — couldn’t be more relaxing and fun! The staff are incredibly kind and helpful. It’s so close to the water, and the decor and design are both charming and fresh. We loved our stay!" - Natasha Norford

"We came here twice during our short stay in Noosa. It’s a great restaurant and bar — authentic and full of history, having been around for over 100 years. Perfect for a nice drink and some snacks!" - Wietse Vanmeerbeeck

"This is hands down the best hostel I have stayed at in Europe, Asia, and Australia! The ladies at reception are lovely and super helpful. The free activities, like National Park walks, yoga, and ping pong tournaments, are a great way to socialise. The facilities are new and clean, and the location is perfect — so close to the beach and main street. Literally a dream!" - Laura Vasquez

"Our weekend at Halse Lodge was truly faultless — the recent renovations are just divine, the two-bedroom suite was perfect for our little family, the position of the lodge (so close — could walk everywhere and easy on-site parking), and the bar and restaurant area was a major vibe, with awesome music. A super cool local crowd with a laid-back appeal — couldn't recommend staying here more — we will be back." - Skye Burke
